My story starts way back - at the time were not long married with a young son and working very long hours . At the same time , I was building my new home - Well, as you can see, there was not much to do right? My problem was that while I was at work trying to earn more money for my new house , I was stuffing his face with convenience foods , shakes and a good amount of drink!
I did not do any exercise either. My job is that I'm stuck in front of a mac and the creative team every day, so I 'm sitting on my ass a lot.
This continued for several years, and took a long hard look in the mirror to realize that I was a bit overweight eats like a horse! Then I went home, and after a hell of a year , I finally decided this year was going to make a resolution to get in shape. At my heaviest , I weighed about 20 stones (or , for those of you in the United States - 280 pounds). Of course , I have a large frame , I am 6'1 "tall and is used to move heavy loads in the gym - but I was big and very friendly !
My wife was very supportive , never told me that I had to deal with my health , but I was right behind me when I decided to go. So what did I do ? Well, my problem is that I liked the red wine and cider , and because I have a big appetite after a few drinks come the weekend , I pushed his face with chips, peanuts and chocolate. Moreover , you will live about 7 miles from my city and no longer drove, took the bus or stuck in an elevator - crazy!
Thus, from January 1, 2004 , it all started - I pulled out my old mountain bike and started riding to work . It's downhill all the way to work ( making it difficult all the way back ! ) What is supposed to be a cakewalk . I quickly realized that I was so bad that it was difficult and sometimes had to stop and take a break. I also cut alcohol and junk food using every opportunity to get out of my back and walk to the store to get some water or fruit. My wife and I ate healthy white fish , lots of vegetables and fruits.
After a while , I started to enjoy my new life and I realized that it was the beginning of something great! I had much more energy , I took measurements in the parking lot and ran around my little boy. I have not missed my weekend is a good bottle of red wine and a few cans of cider - I let the chips and peanuts , and instead rode my bike on the weekends and I worked on my new home.
My colleague was a bike racer acute mountain and convinced me to give XC race an appointment . He had lost just over 5 stone ( 70 pounds ) and I felt really good . I rode my bike more and I thought " why not " when I entered my first mountain bike race on the spot. I did pretty well , placing in the top half of the leading group and I loved it. I offered a brand new mountain bike , bought new bike clothes (which actually does not look so impressive in Lycra) and started reading the bike to motivate me even more. After a few races , began to attract attention and the second and third positions , and after more training and watching my diet, won a few races. My first race of the season and I won the "Sport" of the local XC race bike division.
I think the pilots hardcore elite Sunday morning at 7:00 for training rides on the cliff paths and roads. It was amazing , I had lost five stone of fat, gained a lot of fitness and felt amazing. My office was a real beating, and I had to go out and buy new clothes . My wife was going to sell my clothes "fat old to make room for new clothes . Went XL leads to the large , from 38 " to 32 " waist jeans and more importantly, my wife loved the new me !
I continued with my new lifestyle and I bought a road bike and turbo trainer - I was a complete cycle and nut and riding before and after work , hit the turbo trainer increase my fitness . I started doing some local road races and really , really liked . I've always preferred road racing bike race , but I enjoyed both. Road racing is a completely different approach to running and always dropped on the climbs - I'll never be a climber , and I 'm still a big guy, but I was able to manage my own because of my absolute power and big thighs . My colleague is super fast - and wreaks havoc in times of trial . He ran all over the UK and competed at the 2010 Commonwealth Games road race against the clock , producing brilliant results. He always told me he thought I 'd make a good time trialist , so I went to the local TT - m 5m, 10m and 25 TT . I bought a TT bike so I can get into a good position and I found I liked the discipline. Even had a full fitness test , which produced some surprising results - My plan was to increase my fitness level and get even faster!
But now it's 2011 and I had a bad couple of years ago - a badly broken collarbone and severe back problems , resulting in fractal surgery. My physical condition is dropped and I'm a little weight . My diet has suffered and I have no motivation at the moment - not what I want it all ! So I decided to start my own website to help educate and socialize online with information on weight loss and fitness bike . Tweet often and enjoy reading about the experiences of others and that my favorites are the cyclists ( who else loves to see Cancellara destroy everything in a TT ? ) .
